Pulmonarias have many vernacular names including Spotted Dog, Soldiers and Sailors, Joseph and Mary and Lady Spilt the Milk. They are easy to cultivate and look good for up to ten months months a year. As the flowers fade in late spring their foliage expands, making them a good foil for summer flowering plants.
There aren't many books on pulmonarias, but there are a few.
